Free Human Resources (HR) Resume Template & Examples
An HR resume is read by people who screen resumes for a living, so it has to be precise. Show the size and type of workforce you support, the parts of HR you own, and the numbers behind your work: time to hire, retention, cases closed, systems rolled out. This page covers HR generalists, HR managers and recruiters, with examples and keywords for India, the US, the UK and Australia. Upload your current resume as a PDF, Word file or photo, and ResumeInk rebuilds it in an ATS-readable design.
Use reverse-chronological order. One page works for HR assistants, coordinators and recruiters with under five years of experience. Two pages suit HR managers and business partners with a longer record of programmes, policy and change work.
A clear order: summary, core HR skills, experience, education and certifications, then tools. Under each role, open with one line of scope, such as HR generalist for 650 employees across three plants, before the bullets. Recruiters should add their hiring volume and the kinds of roles they fill.
Specialists in talent acquisition or learning and development can use a skills-first layout, which puts grouped expertise above experience and helps when moving between HR specialties. Everyone else does best with a plain single-column design that an applicant tracking system reads in order, the same kind of system many HR teams run themselves.
What to include in an HR resume
Scope: headcount supported, sites or countries, sector, unionised or not, and who you report to.
HR areas you own: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance, learning, compensation and benefits, payroll inputs, HR systems, policy and compliance.
Employment law you work with: in India, PF, ESI, gratuity and POSH compliance; in the US, FMLA, ADA, FLSA and I-9; in the UK, the ACAS Code, right-to-work checks and TUPE; in Australia, the Fair Work Act, modern awards and the National Employment Standards.
Certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, aPHR, PHR or SPHR in the US; CIPD Level 3, 5 or 7 qualifications and your membership level in the UK and Ireland; AHRI membership or certification in Australia. In India, an MBA, PGDM or MA in HR is the usual route.
Systems: the HRIS, payroll and applicant tracking tools you use.
Education: degree and year, plus relevant short courses.
HR resume summary examples
Name your level, your scope and one result. Three examples:
Entry level: MBA (HR) graduate with a six-month talent acquisition internship at a 2,000-person IT services firm: screened 900+ applications, scheduled 250 interviews in Zoho Recruit and prepared joining documents for 60 new hires.
Mid-level: CIPD Level 5 qualified HR advisor with six years supporting 650 employees in manufacturing and logistics. Handles 30+ employee relations cases a year in line with the ACAS Code and led an HRIS move that cut monthly reporting from three days to four hours.
Senior: SHRM-SCP certified HR business partner with 12 years in US healthcare and technology, advising leaders of a 3,000-person division. Cut first-year attrition from 31% to 19% and built a leadership development program for 120 managers.

Common HR resume mistakes
Policies instead of results. Responsible for onboarding says nothing. Show time to hire, retention, case outcomes or how many people adopted a new system.
Breaking confidentiality. Naming employees, sharing salary data or describing a sensitive case in detail is a red flag in an HR hire. Keep it anonymous and aggregated.
No scope. A reader needs headcount, sites and sector to judge your level.
Generic people skills. People person and excellent interpersonal skills add nothing. A resolved grievance or a lower attrition rate proves it.
The wrong country's law. Moving abroad? Swap terms like FMLA for their local equivalents, or say plainly which jurisdictions you know.
A recruiter resume without hiring numbers. Roles filled, time to fill and offer acceptance are the evidence a hiring manager wants.
Lead with your HR education and any internship, then show transferable work: scheduling interviews for a club, handling admin in a busy office or training new staff in a part-time job. An entry certificate such as CIPD Level 3 or the aPHR shows commitment if you are switching careers.
Which HR certification is best for my resume?
It depends on where you work. SHRM-CP and PHR are widely recognised in the US, CIPD qualifications in the UK and Ireland, and AHRI in Australia, while Indian employers mostly look for an MBA or PGDM in HR. Write the full name and the year you earned it.
What should a recruiter resume include?
Your hiring volume, the types of roles you fill, average time to fill, offer acceptance rate, the sourcing channels you use and the applicant tracking systems you know. Agency recruiters can add placements and billings; in-house recruiters can add retention of their hires.
Should an HR resume be one or two pages?
One page for HR assistants, coordinators and early-career recruiters. Two pages for HR managers and business partners with years of programmes, policies and change work to show, as long as every line supports the job you want.
