Full-stack roles are judged on range and on finish: can you take a feature from database schema to API to screen, ship it and keep it running? A good full-stack developer resume names both halves of your stack, then proves the end-to-end work with a few numbers: users served, response times, release pace, bugs cut. Below are formats by seniority, what counts in each country, summaries, bullets and keywords. Upload your current resume as a PDF, Word file or photo and ResumeInk rebuilds it in an ATS-readable design.
Use reverse-chronological order and keep to one page until about six or seven years of experience. Two pages suit senior and lead developers with several systems to describe. In India and the UK the same document is often called a CV; the rules don't change.
A section order that works: a header with GitHub and portfolio links, a short summary, a technical skills block split into frontend, backend, data and cloud, then experience, two or three projects and education. Move projects above experience if you are a graduate or changing stacks. Graduates can also begin in the resume builder for freshers.
For the layout, ResumeInk's Developer stack layout keeps skills and projects prominent, and Compact header shows skills as small chips under your name, which helps when the stack is long and you want one page. Pair either with a plain theme; the developer resume template page shows the combinations.
What to include in a full-stack developer resume
Header: name, city, email, phone, GitHub, LinkedIn and a portfolio or live demo. In the US, UK, Canada and Australia, leave off photo, date of birth and marital status, and state your work rights if a visa is involved.
Summary: your main stack in one phrase (for example React, Node.js and PostgreSQL), years of experience, the kind of product and one result.
Skills: grouped by layer, with the tools you use most first.
Experience: features you owned end to end and what changed for users, the business or the team. Give the size: users, requests, records, team.
Projects: one or two with real users or a hard problem, linked to code or a live site.
Education and certifications: degree, bootcamp or self-taught path, plus any cloud certificate you hold.
If your open-source work deserves its own heading, add a custom section such as Open source in the ResumeInk editor.
Full-Stack Developer certifications and credentials by country
No country requires a licence to work as a full-stack developer, and no single certificate is expected. Employers look at your code, what you shipped and how you explain it. The filters differ a little by market:
India: a B.Tech, B.E., BCA or MCA is the usual filter for campus and services hiring, and many employers start with an online coding test. Product companies weigh GitHub and system design more. Give your notice period if the ad asks.
US: a computer science degree helps, but a strong portfolio or a bootcamp plus experience is accepted at many companies. Say if you will need visa sponsorship.
UK: a degree or a Level 4 software developer apprenticeship is common. State your right to work.
Australia: state your working rights. Migrants have their ICT skills assessed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS); that is a visa step, not a hiring requirement.
Cloud certificates such as AWS Certified Developer — Associate or Microsoft's Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) help for roles that deploy to that cloud. List them with the year.
Full-Stack Developer resume summary examples
Lead with your stack, then the kind of product and one result.
Entry level: Computer science graduate who built and deployed three full-stack apps with React, Node.js and PostgreSQL, including a room-booking tool used by 400 students on campus. Comfortable with REST APIs, Docker and GitHub Actions, and keen to learn from code review.
Mid level: Full-stack developer with five years on TypeScript, React and Node.js for B2B SaaS. Owned the billing and reporting modules end to end, cut the main dashboard's API response time from 1.8 s to 350 ms, and maintains the CI pipeline that deploys to AWS.
Senior: Senior full-stack engineer with 10 years across Python, Django, React and PostgreSQL, leading a team of six on a marketplace with 2 million monthly users. Led the split of search and checkout out of the monolith, and mentors developers on testing and system design.
Full-Stack Developer resume bullet point examples
Show both ends of the stack across your bullets, and tie each one to something users, the business or your team noticed.
Built a customer self-service portal in React and Node.js on PostgreSQL, cutting support tickets about order status by 38% in its first quarter.
Added query indexes and Redis caching to the reporting API, taking p95 response time from 1.8 s to 350 ms for 12,000 daily users.
Shipped subscription billing with Stripe, webhooks and an admin dashboard in 6 weeks; it handled 40,000 sign-ups in its first year.
Moved search out of a Django monolith into a service backed by Elasticsearch, cutting search latency by 70% and letting two teams release independently.
Raised test coverage on the core API from 35% to 80% with Jest and Supertest, and roughly halved the bugs reported per release.
Set up Docker preview environments for every pull request, cutting QA wait time from 2 days to 2 hours.
Migrated 14 million rows from MySQL to PostgreSQL with no downtime, using dual writes and a staged cutover.
Mentored 3 junior developers through pairing and code review; two now own features end to end.
Swap in your own stack and numbers. If you can't share business figures, percentages work.
Skills & ATS keywords for full-stack developer resumes
Full-stack ads list both layers, so a recruiter's search may combine a frontend framework, a backend language and a database. Use exact names and group them:
Listing every technology you have touched. Thirty tools suggest you are spread thin. Keep the ones you could discuss in an interview, and match the ad.
Only one half of the stack in your bullets. If every bullet is about React, a reader assumes you are a frontend developer. Show at least one backend, data or deployment result per role.
"Worked on" instead of "owned". Say which part you built or led and what shipped. Strong resume action verbs help here.
Projects with no link. A tutorial clone with no live demo adds little. Show one project with real users or a hard problem, and check the link works.
No sense of scale. Users, requests per day, data size and team size turn a vague bullet into a credible one.
Before you send it, read the top third as the hiring manager would: does it show your frontend and your backend strength without scrolling?
How do I write a full-stack developer resume with no experience?
Lead with two or three projects you built and deployed end to end, each with a link, the stack and one result such as users or speed. Add internships, hackathons or open-source contributions, and keep it to one page.
Should my resume say full-stack developer or software engineer?
Use the title in the job ad when it is true for you, because recruiters search for that phrase. If your official title was different, keep it and make the full-stack scope clear in your summary and bullets.
Which tech stack should I put on a full-stack resume?
The one you actually use, written in the ad's terms. If an ad asks for MERN and you work with MongoDB, Express, React and Node.js, name each part; leave out frameworks you have only tried in a tutorial.
Should a full-stack developer resume include a GitHub link?
Yes, if your profile has code you are happy for a reviewer to read. Pin two or three repositories with clear READMEs; if your best work is private, describe it in a projects section instead.
Is one page enough for a full-stack developer resume?
One page suits most developers with under about seven years of experience. Senior and lead developers can use two, as long as page one carries the summary, skills and most recent role.
